3 1 F37-Turbine trip due to high turbine thrust bearing wear detector failure.

SUMMARY

Unit 1 began the month of May 2002 at 100% of rated thermal power (RTP).

On May 18th at 22:00 hours, commenced power reduction to 94% RTP to perform MSIV and turbine valve testing.

On May 1 9 th at 00:54 hours, the turbine tripped, and the reactor automatically scrammed due to high turbine thrust bearing wear detector failure.

On May 2 2 nd at 13:14 hours, reactor criticality was achieved.

On May 2 3 rd at 04:05 hours, the main generator was synchronized to the grid.

On May 2 61h at 10:05 hours, reactor power was reduced from 94% RTP to 65% RTP for rod pattern adjustment. Power ascension was reestablished at 13:10 hours.

On May 2 7 th at 22:58 hours, reactor power was restored to 100% RTP.

SUMMARY

Unit 2 began the month of May 2002 at 100% of rated thermal power (RTP).

On May 24t1 at 22:08 hours, commenced power reduction to 57% RTP to perform MSIV & turbine valve testing, and condenser waterbox cleaning.

On May 2 7th at 17:50 hours, reactor power was restored to 100% RTP.

On May 2 7 th at 22:35 hours, commenced power reduction to 80% RTP to repair the limit switch on MSV# 2.
