Perry Nuclear Power Plant, Unit No. 1 Docket No. 50-440, License No. NPF-58 Supplemental Response to Order for Interim Safeguards and Security Compensatory Measures Ladies and Gentlemen:
On March 18, 2002, the FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC) submitted a response for the Perry Nuclear Power Plant (PNPP) (Letter PY-CEI/NRR-2622L) to the Order for Interim Safeguards and Security Compensatory Measures issued on February 25, 2002. In conjunction with this response, FENOC submitted a request (Letter PY-CEI/NRR-2626L) for extension of time until June 6, 2002, to submit an answer and request a hearing for Interim Compensatory Measure B.2.a.
Evaluations to determine appropriate actions for compliance with Interim Compensatory Measure B.2.a have been completed for the PNPP. Based on these evaluations, the PNPP intends to comply with the requirements of Interim Compensatory Measure B.2.a, as described in the Enclosure to this response. No request for hearing will be filed by the PNPP in regards to this matter. Complete implementation will be achieved no later than August 31, 2002, as required by the Order.
The information contained in the Enclosure to this letter is considered Safeguards Information under the provisions of 10 CFR 73.21, and is thereby exempt from public disclosure. Upon separation of the Enclosure, this letter may be handled as decontrolled.
