PRAIRIE ISLAND - CHANGE TO PREVIOUSLY ANNOUNCED NRC INSPECTION
Dear Mr. Nazar:
On March 4, 2002, the NRC issued an annual assessment letter covering the period from April 2001 to December 2001. This letter contained a preliminary schedule of NRC inspections through March 2003. No safeguards inspections were identified in the March 4, 2002 letter.
Due to follow up issues associated with the events of September 11, 2001, circumstances unforseen when the schedule was developed, and emergent issues, we have decided to conduct an inspection of access control, access authorization, and verification of the plant protection performance indicators between June 17-21, 2002.
This change has been discussed with J. Waddell of your staff. If you have questions regarding the NRC actions discussed above, please contact Mr. James Creed at (630) 829-9857.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRCs "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRCs document system (ADAMS). ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html (the Public Electronic Reading Room).
