Supplemental Response to Order for Interim Safeguards and Security Compensatory Measures for the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station, Unit 1 Ladies and Gentlemen:
On March 18, 2002, the FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC) submitted a response (Serial Number 2769) to the Order for Interim Safeguards and Security Compensatory Measures for the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station (DBNPS) issued on February 25, 2002. In conjunction with this response, FENOC submitted a request (Serial Number 2773) for extension of time until June 6, 2002, to submit an answer and request a hearing for Interim Compensatory Measure B.2.a.
Evaluations to determine appropriate actions for compliance with Interim Compensatory Measure B.2.a have been completed for the DBNPS. Based on these evaluations, the DBNPS intends to comply with the requirements of Interim Compensatory Measure B.2.a as described in the Enclosure to this response. Also included in the Enclosure is an update to the actions for compliance with Interim Compensatory Measures B.2.b and B.2.c based on the completed evaluations. No request for hearing will be filed by the DBNPS in regards to this matter. Complete implementation will be achieved no later than August 31, 2002, as required by the Order.
The information contained in Enclosure 1 to this letter is considered Safeguards Information under the provisions of 10 CFR 73.21, and is thereby exempt from public disclosure. Upon separation of Enclosure 1, this letter may be handled as decontrolled.
