- Members, Several places in the Augmented Inspection Team Report (AITR) and the Root Cause Analysis Report (RCAR) describe how hard it was to inspect the RVH and how the plant was going to make a mod to fix this, but General Design Criterion (GDC) 32 seems to require access.
"Criterion 32 -- Inspection of reactor coolant pressure boundary. Components which are part of the reactor coolant pressure boundary shall be designed to permit (1) periodic inspection and testing of important areas and features to assess their structural and leaktight integrity,... "
Can you clear up this apparent conflict?
For non-nukes: The GDC is a set of requirements that nuclear plants are supposed to meet to get licensed. Most of them are pretty basic. They are posted on the NRC web site.
