NRC OFFICE OF INVESTIGATIONS REPORT NO. 3-2001-023

Dear Mr. Warner:

This letter refers to an investigation conducted by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Office of Investigations (OI), to determine if the Williams Power Corporation at the Point Beach Nuclear Power Plant discriminated against a carpenter, who alleged that his layoff was caused by a Condition Report (CR) that he had written, and that he was not rehired during the Spring 2001 outage because of the CR he wrote. Based on the evidence developed during the investigation, OI did not substantiate that employment discrimination occurred and this matter is considered closed. The synopsis from the OI report of investigation is enclosed.

Based upon the evidence developed, this investigation did not substantiate the allegation that a contract carpenter was discriminated against for raising a safety concern at the Point Beach Nuclear Plant.
