Clarification to Request for Alternative Testing of Manual Valves In Reference (a), Vermont Yankee (VY) requested approval to perform alternative testing to that specified by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code,Section XI, and ASME/ANSI OM, "Operation and Maintenance of Nuclear Power Plants" for manual valves. Reference (b) documents USNRC review and acceptance of our request.
In Reference (a), VY noted that the applicable code for the IST program is ASME OM-10, 1988 Edition with 1989 Addenda. The actual code for VY is ASME OM-10, 1987 Edition with 1988 Addenda. This difference has no impact on the basis for requesting relief or the conclusions drawn in our request.
