Ini~ selgroth 1 5-02rninutes.wpd Page1 Issued: February 15, 2002 IP-2 COMMUNICATIONS TEAM MEETING MINUTES February 15, 2002 Attendees: (meeting held by conference call)
Start: 9:00 a.m.
P. Eselgroth - RI L. Gerke - OCA J. Munday - NRR R. Bores - RI D. Screnci - RI The team discussed the following topics and a consensus was reached for the recommended approaches as indicated.
The IP2 Integrated Insp Report issued this week has created significant external stakeholder interest, particularly with Congresswoman Kelly who contacted Hub Miller yesterday. The team discussed whether the Qs & As developed for the insp rpt issuance Comm Plan needn't to be revisited. Diane Screnci said she didn't think that was needed, but that Hub told her to pass along to the Comm Team the talking points he used in his call with Sue Kelly. Diane will fwd these to Peter Eselgroth, who will get them to today's team meeting participants The Journal News published an article this morning about Entergy's request to the NRC to approve a five year extension to the ten year containment ILRT requirement. The NRC has sent an RAI to Entergy about the impact of rust spots in the containment on this request. The Journal News article refers to a 6.5-square-inch hole in containment which is an assumption in a containment analysis but makes it sound like an actual condition. It also has some confusing references to containment flooding. The team recommends that the appropriate response for the misleading aspects of the Journal News article be addressed by Diane Screnci or Neil Sheehan in an email or phone call to the reporter. Peter Eselgroth said that he would develop a set of Qs & As for NRC response to any potential inquiries to the NRC generated from this article, and get them out to team members for comment by noon, 2/15.
