INDIAN POINT NUCLEAR GENERATING UNIT NO. 2 - CONVERSION TO THE IMPROVED STANDARD TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS (TAC NO. MB4739)
Dear Mr. Kansler:
By letter dated March 27, 2002, Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc., submitted a license amendment request for the conversion of the current Indian Point Nuclear Generating Unit No. 2 (IP2) Technical Specifications to the Improved Standard Technical Specifications (ISTS).
The submittal requested that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) complete its review by January 2003 to support an April 2003 implementation.
During an April 15, 2002, telephone call, William Blair, the IP2 ISTS Project Manager, informed me that the implementation date for the project had changed to June 1, 2003, and that the NRC review would need to be completed by March 31, 2003, to support the new implementation date. We will work toward meeting this date. However, depending on the number and complexity of issues identified during the review, this date may need to be modified as the review progresses.
I am the NRC Lead Project Manager for the IP2 ISTS conversion. I can be reached at 301-415-1441; NRC Mailstop O-8C2; and email gsv@nrc.gov.
