SUMMARY
OF THE APRIL 3, 2002, MEETING WITH EXELON TO DISCUSS DRESDEN PERFORMANCE On April 3, 2002, a public meeting was held at the Grundy County Administration Building, Morris, Illinois, between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the Exelon Generating Company staff. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss NRCs assessment of Dresdens performance for the period of April 1, 2001 through December 31, 2001. In addition, Exelon officials briefly discussed their own assessment of Dresden performance.
During the NRC presentation, an overall assessment of Dresden performance was provided.
As explained in the Annual Assessment letter from NRC to John Skolds, President, Exelon Nuclear, dated March 4, 2002, reference ADAMS accession number ML020700177, Dresden performance was within the Licensee Response Column of the NRCs Action Matrix. In addition, the Annual Assessment letter for Dresden described NRC concerns with the safety conscious work environment at Dresden and a Chilling Effect letter issued by the NRC to Exelon on October 9, 2001. During the meeting on April 3, 2002, the NRC described the concerns which gave rise to the Chilling Effect letter, the licensees response, and the NRCs review of that response. The licensee representatives at the meeting also discussed their plans to resolve the safety conscious work environment concerns.
