Dear Mr. Holihan:

Thank you for taking part in the February 24th meeting on spent fuel security at the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Plant. I appreciate your taking the time on a Sunday afternoon (as it turned out, the United States lost to Canada) to travel to Plymouth.

The overwhelming reaction was that the discussion was productive and worthwhile.

As we all struggle with security concerns in the post-September 11 environment, it is critical to provide as much information to communities as possible. Your participation was essential in helping everyone understand these difficult issues. I value your input, which reflects well on the NRC and represents the very best in public service.

As we discussed, I am hosting another meeting in late April on security issues at the Pilgrim plant. Given your outstanding performance during the last discussion, I would welcome your participation in this larger public forum. My staff will be extending an invitation to you soon.

Thanks again and I look forward to continuing to work closely with you to meet the national challenge of nuclear plant safety and spent fuel storage.
