I would like to personally invite you and other members of your organization to attend a meeting between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Dominion Power in which the NRC staff will discuss with Dominion our annual assessment of the safety performance of the Millstone Nuclear Power Station.
The meeting will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2002, Millstone Nuclear Power Station, L. F. Sillin Jr. Nuclear Training Center, Simulator Training Building, Rope Ferry Road, Route 156, Waterford, CT, and is open to the public for observation. At the meeting we will briefly discuss our Reactor Oversight Process and then discuss with Dominion our assessment of their safety performance of Millstone and their response to our assessment. The NRC staff will be available following the meeting to answer questions from you and members of the public regarding the safety performance of Millstone and the role of the NRC in ensuring safe plant operations.
The NRC recently completed its annual assessment of the safety performance of the Millstone Nuclear Power Station in accordance with the NRC Reactor Oversight Process. Our assessment used the most recent performance indicator data and inspection findings from April 1, 2001 through December 31, 2001. The NRC recently completed its annual assessment of the safety performance of the Millstone Nuclear Power Station in accordance with the NRC Reactor Oversight Process. Our assessment used the most recent performance indicator data and inspection findings from April 1, 2001 through December 31, 2001. We described our assessment results in a letter to Dominion on March 4, 2002; a copy of that letter is attached.
