Dear Mr. Monniger:

Thank you for taking part in discussions concerning spent fuel security at the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Plant. I appreciate your taking the time on a Sunday afternoon to travel all the way to Plymouth for the meeting.

I hope you agree that the discussion was productive and worthwhile. The feedback from participants has been overwhelmingly positive. As we all struggle with security concerns in the post-September 11 environment, these educational forums provide a critical way to address local concerns. Your expertise and frankness was essential to the success of the meeting.

As we discussed, I am hosting another meeting in late April on security issues at the Pilgrim plant. Given your outstanding performance during the last discussion, I would welcome your participation in this larger public forum. My staff will be extending an invitation to you soon.

Thanks again and I look forward to continuing to work closely with you to meet the national challenge of nuclear plant safety and spent fuel storage.
