I would like to personally invite you and other members of your organization to attend a meeting between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Exelon Generation Company in which the NRC staff will discuss with Exelon our annual assessment of the safety performance of the Limerick Generating Station.

The meeting will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at the Limerick Energy Information Center, 298 Longview Road in Linfield, Pennsylvania, and is open to the public for observation. At the meeting we will briefly discuss our Reactor Oversight Process and then discuss with Exelon our assessment of the safety performance of Limerick and their response to our assessment. The NRC staff will be available following the meeting to answer questions from you and members of the public regarding the safety performance of Limerick and the role of the NRC in ensuring safe plant operations.

The NRC recently completed its annual assessment of the safety performance of the Limerick Generating Station in accordance with the NRC Reactor Oversight Process. Our assessment used the most recent performance indicator data and inspection findings from April 1, 2001 through December 31, 2001. We described our assessment results in a letter to the Exelon Generation Company on March 1, 2002; a copy of that letter is attached.
