Commitment to Safeguards Advisories
Dear Mr. Hickman:
This letter is to inform you that implementation of the security program at YNPS is continuing to meet the objectives of Security Level III as described in NRC Information Notice 98-35 as well as maintain the effectiveness of existing security measures. These measures also include the appropriate elements of the October 6, 2001 Safeguards Advisory, specifically Sections I.B and II.C as applicable for decommissioning plants.
Our compliance with these measures was recently reviewed and discussed during a recent NRC Region I inspection conducted during the week of February 1 1 th.
The elements of the October 12, 2001 Safeguards Advisory, as applicable for the future dry storage of spent fuel at the YNPS ISFSI, will be appropriately met prior to declaring the ISFSI operational, which is currently expected in late April 2002.
