DONALD C. COOK NUCLEAR PLANT, UNIT 2 DAY REPORT OF LOSS-OF-COOLANT ACCIDENT EVALUATION MODEL CHANGES (TAC NO. MB4038)
Dear Mr. Bakken:
By letter dated February 4, 2002, pursuant to 10 CFR 50.46, the Indiana Michigan Power Company (the licensee) submitted a 30-day report of loss-of-coolant accident (LOCA) model changes affecting the peak cladding temperature (PCT) for Donald C. Cook Nuclear Plant, Unit 2. The letter describes the current assessments against the large-break LOCA analysis of record and a demonstration that the PCT value remains below 2200 degrees Fahrenheit, as required by 10 CFR 50.46. The letter also reported updated assessments of analyses-of-record in addition to previously identified analysis errors and changes.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has reviewed the letter and the licensees actions. The NRC staff finds that each action described in the letter was performed in accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR 50.46(a)(3)(ii), and therefore is acceptable. The NRC staff also find, the licensees proposed schedule for reanalysis of the large-break LOCA acceptable.
