Dockets 50-266 and 50-301 Point Beach Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2 Clarification Of Revised Response To NRC Bulletin 2001-01, Circumferential Cracking Of Reactor Pressure Vessel Head Penetration Nozzles Nuclear Management Company LLC (NMC), via letter dated January 3, 2002, licensee for Point Beach Nuclear Plant (PBNP), provided a revised response to NRC Bulletin 2001-01.
During a telephone conference between NMC representatives and the NRC staff on January 17, 2002, it was requested that we clarify the revised PBNP site-specific response to Bulletin Item 4.a. Specifically, we discussed the examination techniques planned to be used for reactor vessel head penetrations when effective visual examination results are indeterminate. During that conference call, we stated that we are still evaluating several techniques and expected to reach a final decision within a few weeks. We will notify the Commission of our decision on this issue by March 14, 2002.
