Dear Mr. Burrell:
This is in response to your letter dated December 12, 2001, regarding emergency preparedness for your School District in the event of an incident at the Indian Point Nuclear Power Station. We did not receive your letter in the Regional office until January 17, 2002. We are also in receipt of a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) letter to you dated December 27, 2001 that responds to your concerns regarding the Indian Point Emergency Plan. FEMA is the lead Federal Agency for offsite emergency preparedness. As stated in FEMAs letter, the responsibility for maintaining and updating the FEMA approved Radiological Emergency Response Plan lies with Rockland County, with support from the New York State Emergency Management Office.
