NRC OFFICE OF INVESTIGATION CASE Nos 1-1997-010, 1-1997-006 and 1-1997-011 (Millstone Units 1, 2 and 3)
Dear Mr. Gitner This is in response to your letter dated January 8, 2002, written on behalf of your client the former Director of Training at the Millstone Nuclear Station. You have requested that we provide clarification of a November 9, 2001, letter from the NRC to Mr. Alan J. Price, Vice President, Nuclear Technical Services/Millstone. That letter provides to Millstone the NRC staffs conclusions regarding three investigations completed by the NRC Office of Investigations (OI) and attaches the OI synopsis for each of the investigations.
In that letter, the NRC staff adopted findings made by OI that there had been intentional violations of NRC requirements by the former Unit 1 Supervisor of Operator Training and the Manager of Operator Training. While OI also concluded that the former Director of Training at the Millstone Nuclear Station acted in intentional noncompliance with Training program requirements, the NRC staff concluded that there was insufficient evidence to support that conclusion.
Consistent with your request, a copy of this letter, along with a redacted copy of your letter, will be made publically available.
