New RSC Chair Effective November 2, 2001 Dear Document Control Desk Mr. James M. Byrne has been elected Chair of the Reactor Safety Committee for the 100kW TRIGA Nuclear Reactor (Lic# R126) effective November 2, 2001. This appointment will replace Dr. JoAnn Lighty.
Mr. Byrne has been a Reactor Operator and been involved in all facets of operation and is familiar with NRC regulations. He served on the Reactor Safety Committee for over 15 years and performed numerous RSC audits. His academic background and experience with the Utah reactor program easily meets the qualifications delineated in ANSI/ANS standard 15.4 for this position. This appointment also satisfies our special license requirement and our RSC Charter. We also evaluated the candidate's credentials against any pending changes in the regulatory standard. We saw no issues that would disqualify him for the position.
Marvin Mendonca, (NRC Program Manager) have been made aware of this impending change and have indicated their acceptance upon the receipt of this letter. Attached is a current list of the RSC committee members.
