SUBJECT:

LIMERICK GENERATING STATION (LGS), UNITS 1 AND 2, EMAIL TRANSMISSION, ISSUES TO BE DISCUSSED IN AN UPCOMING CONFERENCE CALL (TAC NOS. MB1018 and MB1019)

The attached information was e-mailed on January 23, 2002, to Mr. David Helker of Exelon Generation Company, LLC (the licensee). This information was transmitted to facilitate an upcoming conference call in order to clarify the licensees submittal dated January 9, 2001.

In the submittal, the licensee proposed alternatives to the requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Section 50.55a, concerning the second, 10-year inservice inspection programs. This memorandum and the attached questions do not convey or represent a Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff position regarding the licensees request.

Issues for Discussion in Upcoming Telephone Conference Limerick Generating Station ISI Program - Proposed Alternatives Please be prepared to discuss the following topics and questions regarding relief request RR-13 (all Tables):

1. Whether all piping and tubing are under low pressure during normal operation.
2. Are they (the components discussed in RR-13) all of small diameter tubing?
3. What are the consequences to safety, if any, should there be a leak?
4. Do you plan to perform any visual inspections in addition to the App. J test?
