ISSUANCE OF RENEWED FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE NOS. DPR-57 AND NPF-5 FOR EDWIN I. HATCH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2
Dear Mr. Sumner:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has issued Renewed Facility Operating License Nos. DPR-57 (Enclosure 1) and NPF-5 (Enclosure 2), together with the Technical Specifications, Appendix A (Enclosure 3), and the Environmental Protection Plan, Appendix B, (Enclosure 4) for the Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2. These renewed facility operating licenses are being issued on the basis of our review of your application dated February 29, 2000, as supplemented and amended by letters dated May 31, July 26, August 11, August 21, August 29, August 31, October 10, and December 15, 2000, and February 9, 2001. The technical specifications for Plant Hatch were not amended as a result of our review.
Renewed Facility Operating License No. DPR-57 (the renewed license for Unit 1), expires at midnight, August 6, 2034. Renewed Facility Operating License No. NPF-5 (the renewed license for Unit 2), expires at midnight, June 13, 2038.
The technical basis for issuing the renewed licenses is set forth in NUREG-1803, Safety Evaluation Report Related to the License Renewal of the Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2, issued December 27, 2001. The results of the environmental review related to the issuance of the renewed licenses are contained in NUREG-1437, Supplement 4, Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants, Supplement 4, Regarding the Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2, dated May 31, 2001.
H. L. Sumner Enclosure 5 is a copy of the related Federal Register Notice announcing issuance of the renewed licenses, the original of which has been sent to the Office of the Federal Register for publication.
