In a Staff Requirements Memorandum dated July 2, 2001, the Commission approved theissuance of the set of documents that constitute improved guidance for license renewal. The Federal Register notice announcing the availability of the documents was published onAugust 3, 2001 (66 FR 40750). The improved guidance for license renewal consists of:Regulatory Guide 1.188, "Standard Format and Content for Applications to RenewNuclear Power Plant Operating Licenses" and the endorsed Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) guidance document NEI 95-10, "Industry Guideline for Implementing the Requirements of 10 CFR Part 54 - The License Renewal Rule," Revision 3.Standard Review Plan for License Renewal, "Standard Review Plan for the Review ofLicense Renewal Applications for Nuclear Power Plants," NUREG-1800Generic Aging Lessons Learned (GALL) report, NUREG-1801 You, your organizations, and your colleagues contributed substantially to the development ofthese documents. We sincerely appreciate the time and effort contributed to the license renewal guidance and generic aging lessons learned. For your convenience, enclosed are copies of the guidance documents on CD-ROM. We find this format is much more portable.
