Ionization Smoke Detector DESCRIPTION:
The 305 Series are round, single station smoke detectors and consist of two models: the A chamber which is a low wall housing for duct detectors, and the B chamber which is a high wall housing for area detectors. These models are sold under various brand names which may have different plastic housings. All 305 Series models contain one source with nominal activity of 0.55 microcurie (20.35 kBq). The manufacturer, Edwards Systems Technology (EST),
may market the models in this series under different brand names. However, in all cases, the smoke detector design will not change and the label will reference ESTs license number.
The 235 Series are round, single station smoke detectors. The ion chamber in the 235 Series may contain any activity up to 1.1 microcurie (40.7 kBq). The models in this series differ only in the activity in the ion chamber. EST may market the models in this series under different brand names. However, in all cases, the smoke detector design will not change and the label will reference ESTs license number.
The 311 Series detectors are designed to be wired to the fire alarm panel of commercial/industrial fire protection systems. The ion chamber in the 311 Series may contain any activity up to 0.85 microcurie (31.45 kBq). The 311 Series is manufactured in two models: one with a factory set smoke sensitivity, the other with adjustable smoke sensitivity. The design of the ionization chamber and the radiation protection features of the two models are identical. EST may market the models in this series under different brand names. However, in all cases, the smoke detector design will not change and the label will reference ESTs license number.
The expected working life of the products is 20 years.
