Request for Public Comment on Proposed Information Collection Initiative (65 FR 76669, December 7, 2000)

The Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI)1, on behalf of the Nuclear energy industry, is developing comments in response to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's proposed information collection initiative published in the subject Federal Register Notice.

The Federal Register Notice of Opportunity to comment expires today. However, NEI is still receiving comments from its industry members. Furthermore, we believe our comments will be enhanced through the collegial review by an industry committee focused on licensing activities - the Licensing Actions Task Force (LATF). The LATF is scheduled to meet and review the proposed initiative and draft comment package on February 5, 2001. Based on this schedule, we anticipate submitting comments to the NRC no later than February 7, 2001.

We respectfully request that comments submitted after January 22, 2001 be considered.
