The visual examinations were performed fo!iowing the guidelines of ASTM C856.
The coarse and fine aggregates were judged to be of very good quality.
The concrete is in good condition. The cement paste did not exhibit any features that '\\Nou!d indicate that it had been affected by chemical attack (i.e., softening, d;<;:;nraa'>tion or dic;i.'nh *tinn'

There was a slight yellow/orange discoloration within 1 mm of the construction joint, which was attributed to carbonation of the floor slab surface during original construction. It did not appear to be any form of aging degradation of the concrete.

il of the concrete due to the air voids or secondary deposits. The concrete represented by the core sections is well consolidated concrete and has a total entrapped air void content estimated at 1 to 2 percent.
Based on the results of the petrographic examination, the concrete sample did not exhibit any signs of degradation related to ingress of borated water and, therefore, no impact on the structural perforroance of the Unit 1 Fuel Handling Building due to ieakage of SFP borated water.
Exposed Rebar Examination In addition to the core sample, Salem excavated a small area of the East Wall, adjacent to the concrete core sample, in the vicinity of the lateral construction joint to expose a portion of the reinforcing steel rebar. The excavation area was approximately 4 inches d

The excavation exposed a length of approximately 4 inches of the steel rebar. A visual examination of the exposed rebar was performed. it appeared to be in excellent condition with no visibie signs of corrosion of the steei rebar.
