Inservice Inspection Interval Update ASME Xl Code of Record, dated October 29, 2004.
PSEG Nuclear LLC (PSEG), in the reference letter, requested approval to use the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code,Section XI 1998 Edition up to and including the 2000 Addenda, in accordance with IOCFR50.55a(g)(4)(iv). This will apply to the remainder of the Third Ten-Year Interval for the Salem Generating Station, Unit No. 1. However, since that time, the NRC has imposed additional requirements on the use of the 1998 Edition of Section Xi, up to and including the 2000 Addenda as discussed in the Federal Register (69FR58804). The purpose of this letter is to inform the NRC that PSEG will comply with these additional requirements for Salem Unit I as follows:
- 1. PSEG will not use the provisions of paragraph IWA-4340 of the 2000 Addenda with regard to mitigating defects by modification, and
- 2. PSEG will comply with the provisions in IWA-4540(c), 1998 Edition for pressure testing Class 1, 2, and 3 mechanical joints.
