Dear Mr. Eisenhut:
Enclosed is Combustion Engineering's (C-E's) report responding to Confirmatory item 9 of the CESSAR SER. The report presents our evaluation of a natural circulation cooldown with controlled voiding in a System 80 NSSS. C-E has concluded that the probability of system or component failures that would require a rapid natural circulation cooldown and subsequent voiding remains remote and that the operator has sufficient instrumentation to perform a rapid natural circulation cooldown with controlled void formation.
This report should close out Confirmatory Item Number 9.
