& Light Company (FPL) requests to amend Facility Operating License NPF-16 for St. Lucie Unit 2.
The proposed amendment will delete the option of using a
movable incore detector to determine Incore Instrumentation System operability from the provisions of Technical Specification (TS) 3.3.3.2.
,considers that the burden of maintaining the redundant movable detector system as an option is not justified by any safety significance.
Approval of the proposed amendment is requested by February 20, 1994, to support permanent removal of the movable incore detector equipment during the next scheduled refueling outage.
Attachment 1 contains a copy of the appropriate TS page marked-up to show the proposed change.
Attachment 2 is an evaluation of the proposed TS change.
Attachment 3 is the "Determination of No Significant Hazards Consideration."
The proposed amendment has been reviewed by the St. Lucie Facility Review Group and the Florida Power
& Light Company Nuclear Review Board.
In accordance with 10 CFR 50.91 (b)(1),
a copy of the proposed amendment is being forwarded to the State Designee for the State of Florida.
