3ABI tag return. This turtle was removed from the intake canal, tagged (AAH-608, AAH-609) and released 6.8 miles south of the intake on 5JUN84. The turtle was recaptured in the intake canal and released 6.8 miles south of the intake on 3AUG84. It was recaptured in the intake canal on 23MAY85; AAH-609 (which had apparently fallen off) was replaced with AAH-983; and the turtle was released 3.0 miles south of the intake. It was recaptured in the intake canal and released 3.0 miles south of the intake on 24JUL85. Though AAH-608 and AAH-983 were in good condition when the turtle was released on 24JUL85, AAH-983 apparently fell off prior to recapture on 18JUN86.
4ABI tag return. This turtle was removed from the intake canal, tagged and released 3.0 miles south of the intake on 2MAY86. It was recaptured in the intake canal and released 3.0 miles south of the intake on 4JUN86.
E = estimated with tape measure; calipers not available.
NOTE: NNY-876 and NNY-881 malfunctioned and therefore were not applied to turtles.

Dear Alan:
Fifty-two loggerhead turtles, five green turtles and one leatherback turtle were removed from the St. Lucie Plant intake canal during the April - June quarter of 1986. Three loggerheads were dead when recovered.
The leatherback was in good condition. No tags were present on the animal, however, a possible tag scar was noted on the left front flipper. The few small barnacles present on the turtle's carapace were removed and preserved for future identification.
Measurements for all animals are attached. A'll live turtles were released into the ocean of f Hutchinson Island. No turtles were reported from other plants.
Please note that there is an error in the last quarterly report. AAJ237/238 (captured on 20 MAR 86) was a Chelonia mydas not a Caretta caretta as reported.
