Pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55a(g)(5)(iii), FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC) notified the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), in References 1, 2 and 3, that inservice examination of certain welds during the third ten-year inservice inspection interval was determined to be impractical and provided information to support the determination. References 1, 2 and 3 also included requests for relief for the fourth ten-year inservice inspection interval.
Based on conversations with the NRC staff, FENOC intends to perform the fourth ten-year inservice inspection interval examinations to the maximum extent practical; therefore, relief requests discussed in References 1, 2 and 3 are hereby withdrawn.
References 1, 2 and 3 continue to provide the notification to the NRC of examinations determined to be impractical during the third ten-year inservice inspection interval and provide information to support the determinations as required by 10 CFR 50.55a(g)(5)(iii).
