SUMMARY

OF MANAGEMENT ACTIONS Medical Review Officer (MRO) Six Month Report From January 1, 2002, through June 30, 2002, our records indicate the following results:

In the licensee personnel pool, Pre-Access program category, one (1) confirmed positive for a single substance, and in the Random category, one (1) refusal to test. In the short term contractor personnel pool, Pre-Access program category, five (5) confirmed positives for single substances and one (1) confirmed positive in the For Cause-Observed Behavior program category. Please note that personnel previously reported in the long term contractor personnel pool are now included in the licensee personnel pool.

Pre-Access Proaram In the Pre-Access program category, licensee personnel pool, one (1) confirmed positive for a single substance was experienced. In the Pre-Access program category, short-term contractor personnel pool, five (5) confirmed positives for a single substance were experienced. Each individual participated in separate face-to-face interviews with the Medical Review Officer and was provided the opportunity for split-specimen testing.

The Medical Review Officer adjudicated all six (6) individuals as confirmed positive and unescorted access was denied. The Medical Review Officer also recommended that each individual should participate in their respective Employee Assistance Programs.

For Cause - Observed Behavior In the For Cause-Observed Behavior program category, short-term contractor personnel pool, one (1) confirmed positive was experienced. The individual participated in a face to-face interview with the Medical Review Officer. The Medical Review Officer adjudicated the individual as a confirmed positive and unescorted access was denied.

The Medical Review Officer also recommended that the individual should participate in their Employee Assistance Program.

Random In the Random program category, licensee personnel pool, one (1) refusal to test was experienced when a supervisor who was notified of random test selection refused to test and resigned from employment. The employee also refused to participate in interview with the Medical Review Officer. Based on the refusal to participate, the Medical

List of Events Reported During the period of January 1, 2002, through June 30, 2002, one event was reported under the provisions of 10 CFR 26.73 by Beaver Valley Power Station (BVPS). This event was reported on May 17, 2002, and involved a licensee supervisor refusal to test upon notification of a random test selection.
