Dear Sir:
FitzPatrick Plant Technical Specification 6.9.A.2.b requires that the challenges to, and f ailures of, Saf aty Relief Valves (SRVs) be reported annually.
During the calendar year 1997, no challenges to SRVs from automatic control circuits (Automatic Depressurization System) occurred. There were 8 operator demand challenges as a result of post work testing. On April 24,1997, during testing of actuator mechanisms (pilot assemblies) for SRVs at Wyle Laboratories, valve 02RV-71J (SRV J, pilot serial number 1217) would not.if t at applied test pressures. The cause and associated corrective actions for the
.ure of 02RV 71J to lift during "as found" setpoint testing was reported in LER 97-004 (Reference 1).
