Dear Sir or Madam:
In accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR 50, Appendix E, Section V1.3, Entergy is submitting this letter to provide notification of changes in the James A. FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant Emergency Response Data System (EROS) link software, scheduled to be implemented on September 30,2011. Notification is required 30 days prior to any hardware or software changes that could affect the transmission format or computer communication protocol to the EROS.
These changes involve a conversion from a dial-up modem-based system to a more reliable internet-based system using a plant information server and NRC-supplied virtual private network (VPN) appliance.
During the implementation of this change, the existing EROS link will remain available and the plant's ability to activate the existing EROS link if required will not be affected.
There are no commitments contained in this letter.
