l As a. result'of the inspection conducted on October 27 through November 3, 1987, tand in accordance with 10 CFR Part 2, Appendix'C - General Statement of Policy and Procedure for NRC Enforcement Actions (1985), the following' violations were

1; License Condition No. 19 requires that licensed material be possessed an'd

.used in accordance with the statements, representations, and procedures contained in~certain referenced applications and letters.

The referenced application dated August 22, 1980 states'in Appendix J that laboratory coats should be worn by all persons handling radioactivity.

.f Contrary to the above, licensee representatives working in Stepan Hall Room 429 and Galvin Life Sciences Building Room 211 stated that they

usually do.'not wear laboratory coats when handling radioactivity.

This is.a Severity Level IV violation (Supplement VI).

10 CFR 20.401 of surveys ~ req (b) requires that you maintain records showing the results uired by 10 CFR 20.201(b), " Surveys."

Contrary to the above, as of the day of the inspection, you failed to-maintain records of surveys that you performed to. assure compliance with 20.301, " Waste Disposal, General Requirements."

This is a Severity Level IV violation (Supplement 'IV),

Pursuant to the ' provisions of 10 CFR 2.201, you are required to submit to this office-within-. thirty days of the date of this Notice a written statement or explanation in reply, including for each violation:

(1) corrective action taken and the results achieved; (2) corrective action to be taken to avoid further violations; and (3) the date when full compliance will be achieved.

Consideration may be given to extending your response time for good cause shown.
