The purpose of this letter is to advise you of the results of the special inspection conducted on September 13 and October 3, 1985, by this office.
The

inspection was initiated as a result of allegations received by the Region III office alleging that radiation was used on humans by a Calumet Testing
,
Services, Inc. employee.
Our inspection concluded that x ray was used during
i this incident and not NRC licensed material.
As a result of this inspection,
'
we have referred this case to the State of Indiana for further action.
,
j No violations of NRC requirements were identified. We understand that you have
'
terminated the individual who is alleged to have used x rays on humans.
However, please inform us of the management actions that will be or have been taken to assure us that NRC licensed material will not be used in an unauthorized manner. We are particularly interested in your hiring practices
,
and training program for radiographers.
The NRC expects that radiographers
clearly understand the seriousness of unauthorized use of radioactive material, especially when it is used on humans.
