UNIVERSITY OF MASSACHUSETTS-LOWELL RESEARCH REACTOR
FACILITY - NRC INSPECTION REPORT NO. 50-223/2009-202
Dear Dr. Kegel:
On February 2 to 6, 2009, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC, the Commission)
conducted a security inspection at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell Research Reactor facility. The inspection included a review of activities authorized for your facility. The enclosed report presents the results of that inspection.
The inspection examined activities conducted under your license as they relate to public health and safety, the common defense and security, and compliance with the Commissions rules and regulations, orders and with the conditions of your license. The inspectors reviewed selected procedures and records, observed activities, and interviewed personnel. Based on the results of this inspection, no safety concerns or non-compliances with NRC requirements were identified.
No response to this letter is required.
In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Part 2.390, Public inspections, exemptions, and requests for withholding, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the NRC's document system (Agencywide Document Access and Management System (ADAMS)).
ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.
However, because of the security-related items contained in the enclosure, and in accordance with 10 CFR 2.390(d), a copy of this letter=s enclosure will not be available for public inspection.
