NRC SAFEGUARDS INSPECTION REPORT NO. 50-193/2003-201
Dear Dr. Tehan:
This letter refers to the inspection conducted on March 24-27, 2003, of the Rhode Island Nuclear Science Center research reactor facility. The purpose of the inspection was to verify the implementation of interim compensatory measures (ICMs) and the successful incorporation of the ICMs into the security and safeguards program at your facility. The ICMs were proposed in your letter to the NRC dated September 30, 2002, and imposed by the NRC through a Confirmatory Action Letter dated October 28, 2002.
The enclosed report presents the results of that inspection. Various aspects of your safety and security programs were inspected including selective examinations of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observation of activities in progress.
Based on the results of the inspection, no significant safety issues were identified.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRCs "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter, without the enclosure, will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRCs document system (ADAMS).
