l Mr. Joshua Gordon JUN 181987 Nuclear Analyst Critical Mass Energy Project Public Citizen IN RESPONSE REFER 1 215 Pennsylvania Avenue, SE TO F01A-87-296 j Washington, DC 20003 I i

Dear Mr. Gordon- I This is in response to your letter dated May 17, 1987, in which you requested pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act (F0IA), copies of all records l related to specified vendors regarding failures or deficiencies related to or j affecting plant safety. This confirms the information relayed during your telephone conversation with Ms. Linda Robinson on June 12, 1987.

Copies of reports of inspections at the vendors' facilities and related correspondence are maintained in the NRC's Public Document Room (PDR) in J Washington, DC, in the files identified below.

Vendor Docket Number Pullman Construction Industries 999-00874 Pullman Power Pr ; acts, California 999-00077 Pullman Power Products, Pennsylvania 999-00021 The staff noted that while they are aware of the fact that these vendors have worked at a number of plants, NRC's regulations impose requirements on utility licensees rather than the licensees' contractors and subcontractors and. .

therefore, we are not aware of any list of plants at which these vendors have I worked. Any reports of inspections of plants which might mention these l vendors are filed in the appropriate PDR plant docket files.

With regard to various reports that might mention specific deficiencies or failures pertaining to these vendors, staff of the Office of Analysis and Evaluation of Operational Data (AE00) conducted a search of AE0D's computerized data system containing Licensee Event Reports (LER) for 1980 to ,

the present and located four LER entries, for 1980, 1982, 1983, and 1984. A printout of those four computer entries is enclosed. Copies of LERs are maintained in the PDR. In the event you wish the PDR staff to do so, the PDR l- staff noted that they can assist you in searching the PDR computerized data system for deficiency reports under the various terms, such as quality assurance, mentioned in your request and can prcvide a printout identifying correspondence between NRC and these vendors and 10 CFR Part 21 reports.
