NARRATIVE REPORT E1-2 Unit 1 began the month of August operating at rated thermal power. Shift reduced load to approximately 860 GMWe (-2650 CMWT) on 8/3/02 to perform control rod drive exercises. Shift then increased power to approximately 98% of rated thermal and performed turbine stop valve testing. The unit was returned to rated thermal power later the same day. Shift reduced load to approximately 815 GMWe (-2530 CMWT) on 8/10/02 to perform control rod drive exercises. The unit was returned to rated thermal power on 8/11/02. Shift reduced load to approximately 850 GMWe (-2650 CMWT) on 8/17/02 to perform control rod drive exercises. The unit was returned to rated thermal power later the same day. Shift reduced load to approximately 845 GMWe
(-2645 CMWT) on 8/24/02 to perform control rod drive exercises. The unit was returned to rated thermal power on 8/25/02. Shift reduced load to approximately 850 GMWe (-2650 CMWT) on 8/31/02 to perform control rod drive exercises and main turbine valve testing. Shift began ascension to rated thermal power later the same day. The unit was operating at approximately 96% of rated thermal power, with the power ascension still in progress, at the end of this reporting period.

The unit was returned to rated thermal power later the same day. Shift reduced load to approximately 870 GMWe (-2645 CMWT) on 8/11/02 to perform control rod drive exercises. The unit was returned to rated thermal power on 8/12/02.
Shift reduced load to approximately 830 GMWe (-2540 CMWT) on 8/18/02 to perform control rod drive exercises. Shift increased power to approximately 98% of rated thermal on 8/19/02 and performed turbine stop valve testing. The unit was returned to rated thermal power later on 8/19/02. Shift reduced load to approximately 870 GMWe (-2650 CMWT) on 8/25/02 to perform control rod drive exercises. The unit was returned to rated thermal power later the same day. Shift maintained unit operation at rated thermal power for the remainder of the month.
