This report is submitted in accordance with Section 5.4.1 of the Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear l
Plant Environmental Protection Plan, Appendix B to Facility Operating Licenses DPR-57 and NPF-5. The report summarizes the environmental activities for Units 1 and 2 for the 4
period.lanuary 1,1996, through December 31,1996.
By letter dated, December 19,1995, the NRC approved Georgia Power Company's request to replace the Environmental Technical Specifications with an Environmental Protection Plan (nonradiological) and to revise Operating Licenses DPR-57 and NPF-5 to reflect these J
changes. Amendment No.199 to Facility Operating License DPR-57 and Amendment No.
140 to Facility Operating License NPF-5 replaced the existing Appendix B," Environmental i
Technical Specifications," with a new Appendix B, " Environmental Protection Plan."
Implementation of the amendments was completed by February 16,1996, as required. The changes associated with the amendments are administrative in nature, altering only the format and location of programmatic controls and procedural details relative to
]
nonradiological environmental monitoring. Reporting for environmental matters occurring subsequent to February 16,1996, was performed in accordance with the requirements of the new Environmental Protection Plan. The format for the 1996 report has been modified l
to reflect the requirements of Section 5.4.1 of the Environmental Protection Plan.
REPORTING REOUIREMENTS A.
Summaries and Analyses of Results of Environmental Monitoring Activities for the Reporting Period There were no nonradiological environmental monitoring activities performed at Plant Hatch during the report period, beyond those performed in accordance with NPDES Permit No. GA0004120.
B.
Comparison of the 1996 Monitoring Activities with Preoperational Studies, Operational Controls, and Previous Monitoring Reports These programs were not required because no nonradiological environmental monitoring programs were conducted during the reporting period beyond those performed in accordance with NPDES Permit No. GA0004120.
