FITNESS FOR DUTY PROGRAM SIX-MONTH PERFORMANCE REPORT JANUARY 1, 2002 TO JUNE 30, 2002 PROGRAM
SUMMARY
The Grand Gulf Nuclear Station annual random testing rate is 50 percent. During this reporting period, approximately 24.6 percent of the population was randomly tested. The rate of positive tests from random testing during the first six months of 2002 is 0.36 percent.
POSITIVE RESULTS:
Five urine samples were confirmed positive during this reporting period. These samples individually confirmed positive for marijuana, amphetamine/methamphetamines. In addition, one individual tested positive for alcohol. The drug test results were confirmed by GC/MS and were accepted by the individuals without being contested.
MANAGEMENT ACTIONS:
Five "For-cause" tests and one "Other" test were performed during this reporting period.
Three of the For-cause tests were post-accident and two were conducted based on observed behavior. The Other test was performed at the request of the tested individual in response to an allegation of suspected substance abuse. Two of the For-cause (behavior) tests and the Other test returned positive test results. These individuals, as well as the two individuals that tested positive during Pre-access testing, were denied Unescorted Access. In addition, the Unescorted Access was revoked and denied for the individual that tested positive during Random testing in this report period.
EVENTS REPORTED TO THE NRC:
There were no Fitness for Duty reportable events during this six-month reporting period.
PROGRAM EVALUATION:
No programmatic problems were identified during this reporting period. The annual Fitness for Duty Program audit will be conducted during the next report period.
