Transmittal of Vermont Yankee SPDS Isolator Test Results
Dear Sir:
By letters dated December 21, 1987 and May 2, 1988 (References (b) and (c)], Vermont Yankee transmitted information concerning the criteria to be utilized in the design and manufacture of isolators for the Safety Paramater Display System (SPDS) which will be installed at the Vermont Yankee Station.
Subsequently, on August 30, 1988, these submittals were discussed with the NRC staff during r. telephone conversation, and more detailed information concerning the results of testing to be performed on the isolators was requested.
At the present time, prototype and production testing of the isolators has been completed. This testing has conclusively deinenstrated that the isolators will perform the required isolation function when subjected to the maximum credible conditions postulated for Vermont Yankee.
In accordance with the staff's request, Fnclosure 1 to this letter provides a sumary of the testing performed by EI International for qualification of the isolators being supplied for Vermont Yankee.
