| Event Description | The following is a summary of information provided by the licensee via phone:
The licensee reported that a package containing 18 mCi of C-11 as acetate was found to have 739 dpm/cm^2 smearable surface contamination on receipt. This exceeds the reportable limit of 10 CFR 71.87(i). The C-11 was contained in a 5 mL syringe in a shielded container inside the package. No damage to the package was reported. No contamination was found in the interior of the package after it was opened. The package was shipped between two licensee facilities, BRTC Radiopharmacy and the Goodman Hall PET Research Facility, by a licensee transport. The licensee reported that the receiving facility will be surveyed as part of routine end-of-day activities. |
