The following information was provided by the
Texas Department of State Health Services (the Agency) via email:
On 1/31/2025, at approximately 1420 CST, the Agency was notified of a package received that exceeded limits from the radiation safety officer (RSO) at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in College Station, Texas. The report was two cases from RLS Pharmacy in Temple were contaminated with Tc-99m. The initial results from wipe tests performed by the nuclear medicine technologist were 22.1k and 87.7k disintegrations per minute (dpm), respectively. No other contamination was present.
There was no contamination found anywhere in the hospital or the courier vehicle. The courier vehicle and the courier were surveyed after returning to the pharmacy. Packages were surveyed prior to leaving the pharmacy and no contamination was present.
