Title	Agreement State Report - Lost Troxler Moisture Density Gauge
Event Description	The licensee called the State of Florida at 1500 to report a lost Troxler gauge. "The gauge fell out of the truck somewhere between the intersection of Pines Blvd. and US 27 to Florida turnpike while traveling on US 27 in Broward County. The owner has filed a police report and will offer a reward. The lost gauge was a Troxler model: 3411B, serial number: 6672 containing 40mCi AmBe and 8.7 mCi Cs-137. Florida Incident Number: FL09-002. * * UPDATE FROM STEVE FURNACE TO JOHN KNOKE AT 1327 EST ON 01/17/09 * * * The Troxler density gauge was located and a visual examination indicated it was not damaged. Licensee is having an authorized vendor conduct a leak test on the gauge, calibrate it, and then return it to the licensee for service. Notified R1DO (Gray), FSME (D. White), ILTAB via email. THIS MATERIAL EVENT CONTAINS A "LESS THAN CAT 3" LEVEL OF RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL Sources that are "Less than IAEA Category 3 sources," are either sources that are very unlikely to cause permanent injury to individuals or contain a very small amount of radioactive material that would not cause any permanent injury. Some of these sources, such as moisture density gauges or thickness gauges that are Category 4, the amount of unshielded radioactive material, if not safely managed or securely protected, could possibly - although it is unlikely - temporarily injure someone who handled it or were otherwise in contact with it, or who were close to it for a period of many weeks.
