20555 V0GTLE ELECTRIC GENERATING PLANT RESPONSE TO SYSTEMATIC ASSESSMENT OF LICENSEE PERFORMANCE Gentlemen:
Georgia Power Company (GPC) has reviewed infermation presented in the Systematic Assessment of Licensee Performance (SALP) Report transmitted by your WCAP-13377,Rev 2 & Proprietary WCAP-13376,Rev 2, Bypass Test Instrumentation for Vogtle Electric..., encl.WCAP-13376,Rev 2 Withheld|letter dated March 1, 1993]], and at the meeting held between GPC and the NRC at the Vogtle Electric Generating Plant site on March 18, 1993.
We appreciated the constructive comments made in the SALP evaluation, as well as your recognition of GPC's efforts and successes in improving our performance.
However, GPC wishes to make the following clarification to a statement on page 16 concerning the code inspection of the Unit 2 vessel nozzles.
The statement, "However, a requested change to defer code inspection of Unit 2 nozzles was not well supported, and after discussions with the staff, the licensee decided to conduct the inspection as previously scheduled." should be changed to:
However, a notification to the NRC concerning the licensee's rescheduling of the code inspection of the Unit 2 RPV nozzles was not accepted. After discussions with the NRC staff, the licensee committed to examine the affected components during the next regularly scheduled maintenance / refueling outage (Outage 2R3) at Unit 2.
It should be noted that the proposed re-wording incorporates wording from the NRC letter of July 30, 1992 and our submittal of November 20, 1992.
Sincerely,
.k f
