7 PLANT V0GTLE UNIT 1 j 1988 ANNUAL REPORT - PART I INTRODUCTION Plant Vogtle Unit 1 is powered by a pressured water reactor rated at 3411 megawatts thermal. It is located on the Savannah River in Burke County Georgia, at a site 34 miles southeast of Augusta. An operating license was initially received on January 16, 1987 and Commercial Operation started on May 31, 1987. The unit is currently operating in its second fuel cycle.

_ REPORT OF-LEAKAGES GREATER THAN-OR-EQUAL-TO 0.005 MICR0 CURIES As required . by Technical Specification section 3.7.9, leak tests were performed on sealed sources with activity greater than 100 microcuries of beta and/or gamma, or 5 microcuries of alpha. The test results revealed activities less than 0.005 microcuries of removable contamination.
