Dear Sir:

i The Final Rule on Anticipated Transient Without Scram (ATHS) requires Boston Edison Company to submit to the NRC a proposed schedule for meeting the requirements of the rule.

Further, the rule requires BECo to submit the schedule by 180 days after the issuance of the QA guidance for non-safety related ATHS equipment.

By Reference 1, BECo received the QA guidance on April 23, 1985. Accordingly, in conformance with 10CFR50.62(d), the following schedule is provided to implement the requirements of the ATHS Rule.

1.

10CFR50.62(c)3:

A diverse and independent Alternate Rod Injection (ARI)

System with redundant Scram air header exhaust valves.

This has been implemented by BECo. No further action on this is necessary.
