Relief Request ANO2-R&R-012 Arkansas Nuclear One, Unit 2 NRC Docket No. 50-368 Renewed Facility Operating License No. NPF-6 Entergy Operations, Inc. (Entergy) submitted a request for an alternative via Reference 1 to the requirements of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (ASME Code) to repair the Arkansas Nuclear One, Unit 2 Reactor Vessel Closure Head Penetration #46. Reference 2 provided responses to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (NRC) request for additional information concerning the alternative. The NRC provided verbal authorization to implement the alternative on October 13, 2021 (Reference 3).

Entergy initially intended to eliminate the indications by performing defect removal in accordance with IWA-4421(a) and IWA-4422.1(a). However, after reassessment of the data, Entergy has determined to implement a different repair strategy. Therefore, Entergy will not be utilizing or implementing the approved alternative.

The different repair methodology requires the NRC's approval, which is the subject of a separate NRC submittal.

The regulatory commitments established in Reference 1 are rescinded with this submittal.
